Fun in the Sun

A busy weekend for the Lions organisation

It was another busy weekend for the LYB organisation over the 2/3 July. On Saturday the Juniors - for the third year in succession - took part in the Whiston Festival, near Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Dodging the showers their summery programme found favour with the judges and they were delighted to head back to South Cheshire with the prize for second place in their possession. Well done everyone!

Sunday was no rest day either, as all three bands filled a sun-drenched Congleton Park with the sounds of their various concert programmes; the Juniors reprising the day before's items whilst the Beginners introducing a few newer pieces... including Bob the Builder! Further to this, the Youth Band took the chance to play some of the many items they will be performing on their forthcoming tour, including solos on cornet (Tasha Brett), tenor horn (Sophie Barwick) and euphonium (Cameron Brooks). All in all, a lovely afternoon.

There are still more concerts to come as on Tuesday the Beginners will be the headline act at Goostrey Primary School. Check out our calendar page for more info.
