Award Evening at Winsford caps busy weekend

The annual Awards Evening concert took place in the wonderful surroundings of Winsford Academy this evening, bringing a rather busy weekend for the whole LYB organisation to a wonderful close.

Saturday saw a concert at Kings, Macclesfield for all three bands whilst the Youth Band spent Sunday afternoon entertaining the large crowds at Chester Band Stand, before all three bands headed back to Winsford. A fantastic evenings concert saw all three bands on top form; the Beginners added kapow and zap to their programme with an action-packed performance of Batman, reflected the weather with a lovely waltz called Sunshine and ended (as is fast becoming tradition) with Bob the Builder. Next up, the Juniors brought a very successful 2015/16 season to an end with a summery programme featuring a raft of fine soloists in Cantalope Island, kept the feet tapping in La Bamba and closed with Cornish Pastyche before the Youth Band performed a range of items ahead of their tour to Eastbourne and the surrounding area. Their programme included solos on cornet and euphonium, as well as items ranging from the fantastic Sweet Gingerbread Man to Offenbach via Brian May and even a bit of Tina Turner thrown in for good measure too!

Of course, this evening sees plenty of awards handed out. This is never an easy choice for the bands musical teams to decide as there are always many suitable candidates. However, this year saw the following people rewarded for their contributions to the band this year:
