Junior Band 1st!

By: PaulDarlington - 05 July 2014

Well done the Lions Junior Band for winning the training section of the 2014 Whiston Festival of Brass

Congratulations to everyone for a great performance and result.  The adjudicators comments and photos are below.

Eye of the Tiger
Good confident start made and good kit work noted. Good tempo, dynamics could contrast more.

Viva la Vida
Just the odd untidy bar after 'A', but yes this is good playing. All goes forward in good style. Keep up the good work. Good rhythmic playing, and good singing. Effective ending.

Danny Boy
Could have been more confident from the band to start. 'A' Good confident soloist with a nice sound. Band accompaniment is fine, just an odd tuning blip.
Good soloists solo/counter melody. Fine ending.
Bravo soloist.

Westward Ho
Bar 4 & 8 were a shade untidy
Tempo is good and most of the playing is clean and tidy.
Lower brass good in bass solo. Trio the dynamic could have been lighter, but yes good playing. Generally well played just the odd untidy bar. Again bass solo a feature.

Jurassic Park
Try to play smoother and with kinder articulation
Great item to end your programme with and it was played with good confident sounds. Keep up the good work all of you.

Bravo Band, soloist and MD.
Thank you.

The Band Marshall said "It has to be said I was most impressed by the Junior band, a great pity we didn't have a deportment prize as without a doubt the band would have won that as well"
