Slow Melody Competition and Concert

By: PaulDarlington - 01 December 2014

Another great day for the organisation.

The Lions Youth Brass 9th annual Slow Melody Competition and Christmas Concert was held on Sunday 30th November and it was another great day with many outstanding performances.  We would like to say a very well done to all those who took part and a special thanks to the adjudicators; Grace England and Mark Wilkinson who had a very difficult day.  The concert in the evening featured all three bands with an excellent programme of both concert music and Christmas favourites to introduce everyone to the festive season.  Lions Youth Brass were delighted to be presented with a cheque of £500 from their guests for the evening; The Worshipful the Mayor and Madam Major of the Borough of Cheshire East, to assist the production of a new CD next year.  We were also sad to say goodbye to Ruth Jenkins who has been the treasurer of the organisation for many years, and who is moving to the North East next week to be near to her family.

We still have a few costs to address, but we are forecasting a contribution of £1000 (plus the donation from Cheshire East) to help fund the year ahead. This is a great result and adds to a successful day, and makes all the hardwork worthwhile.
